January Diary: Detox, De-stress and De-friending.....

How can it be that we are at the end of January already? I feel like I have blinked and missed it although I have lived every day of it. It has been an incredibly busy month for many, many reasons and quite eye opening too.

January De-stress, Detox & De-friend

I don't really make resolutions because I think that everyday we should try and be the best that we can be without limiting ourselves. Also as much as I plan certain aspects of life I also like to fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants and wing it a little. As usual though I did begin the year trying to eat more healthy and detox, without detoxing. By this I mean having days of clean eating and drinking after the excess of Christmas and the New Year.

Tetley Super Green Tea

I have also become addicted to the new Tetley Super Green Tea Range, which is strange as I am purely a coffee drinker. These are so refreshing and uplifting! I am loving the Immune Tea which is tropical in flavour and great for supporting the immune system, the Boost with Vitamin B6 that helps to reduce Tiredness and fatigue and believe me I need all the help I can get, and the Beauty With Vitamin B7 which helps maintain healthy hair and skin.  Give these a try as they taste amazing and are also great cold over ice. Aside from that Nothing extreme or limiting as that just doesn't work for me.

Slimming Solutions Boot Camp Body

Back in December I was given the opportunity to try the *Slimming Solutions Boot Camp Body Weight Loss Shake, to loose a few pounds for Christmas. Now, I have tried shakes before and loved them and they have worked very well for me so I was intrigued. Boot Camp Body shake is a high protein nutrition meal replacement for weight control. I was sent the strawberry flavour and had to replace two meals per day with a shake. I had to mix two scoops of the shake with 300ml of water and drink. Sounds simple right? Well firstly it was a huge 1.2kg container and guess where the scoop was? At the very bottom of the tub so I had to put my arm in and push it around to find the scoop. Secondly I had to make sure I bought a shaker which is needed to shake the mix in as mine didn't come with one. What really got me though was the smell, unlike other shakes I've tried, this smelt mouldy and damp and was really hard to drink. I stuck with it for two weeks but did not enjoy this particular brand. The taste, the smell was all too much for me to stomach. It did blend very well and smooth, but I was hungry and just the thought of the smell each day put me off. There are some good reviews on this product and maybe a different flavour would be better but it wasn't for me. However if you love this type of weight loss system you can read more HERE.

Ruby Saying Hello!

January has been a very stressful month for me from beginning to end for one reason or another. It has also been incredibly busy and non stop, my blog is getting bigger and better on a daily basis and I have so much incredible content planned. My way of de-stressing is switching off all forms of social media, spending quality time outside with my husband children and dog, or going for a glass of wine with friends. I also love to have a beautiful bubble bath and watch my iPad whilst I am in there. As I am not a great sleeper, relaxing and de-stressing when I can is very much needed for my mind, body and spirit. I have had some wonderful days out this month with my children including a beautiful visit to The Lion King show in the West End with my youngest son, skateboarding in the park and family meals out and trips to the beach. Its the perfect way to get Back to Me and re energise myself.

Make the days count!

Another thing I have done throughout January is De-Friend people. Literally, on Social Media and in real life. At the age of 42 I have become a really good judge of character and have finally realised who likes me for me and who likes me for the things I can do for them. I do so much for other people and last year I realised that I either never had enough time for the things I wanted/needed to do for myself and my family or, when I needed help, a friend or a favour, it was never returned. I want to be friends with people that genuinely want to be friends with me and not just for what I can bring to the table.

So that's my round up of January on a personal note, obviously there will be a beauty round up too but I  wanted to have a friendly chat with you all. How has your January been? Has is set the tone for the rest of the year for you? I would love to hear how you have started this bright shiny new year!

Big Hugs, love Sharon xx

  1. My January has been busy, but I like that, it's good to have plenty of stuff going on. The down side is that I have less time to blog, but the posts I have done have done alright. I need to find a way to get ahead of my blogging schedule as it is still very much on the hoof, but without a few extra hours in the day it's hard to achieve.

  2. I'm with you on the "social" declutter. I've recently gone through a bit of an unfriending phase, I think it's the only way to stay healthy and it's actually much better for your mental health. Also a fan of the tea :)

  3. I'm with you on the de-friending! I've started to do it in real life too...although it's hard I am finally realising that some people just aren't worth my efforts. It's quite cathartic actually! My goal now is so put more into my blog, I'm very lax with it and I need to be more disciplined!! xx

  4. I'm with you on the de-friending! I have been doing more of that over the last few years. I had a greta start to January as I was on holiday but came back to a lot of problems and stress when I got back. I hope the rest of the year is like the holiday weeks, positive and fun! xx
