For many of us, Supplements and Vitamins are part of our daily routine. We take them to help increase our immune system, boost energy levels and generally make us feel better. Whether they actually work, or have a placebo affect is down to the thinking of the individual but i know that the ones i take and have taken for many years, certainly make me feel better.
Aloe Vera has long been known for its health benefits, as it is packed full of Vitamins, Minerals and rich in Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc and Iron. Years ago i regularly took a daily does of Aloe Vera juice from a health food shop, to help with my digestion and basically cleanse me from the inside out. When i was contacted by Forever Living back in January to try their Aloe Vera Gel, i was very interested. Seeing as Aloe Vera is having a sudden resurge in the beauty press, i thought i would try this gel which is said to be 96% pure Aloe and packed full of nutrients and contains many beneficial properties.
With key benefits listed as :
Supporting gastrointestinal health,
Helps support immunity
Rich in nutrients
Great for shiny, glowing skin, hair and nails
Promotes health and well being, i wanted to put some of these claims to the test.
Forever Living grow, harvest and manufacture the plant through a patented process making it their top, best selling product. Now, you know me, i am not backwards in coming forwards when it comes to health. Due to having many health issues and taking a lot of medication daily, i have to be incredibly choosy and careful about which Supplements and Vitamins i include in my diet. Having checked it was ok for me to take, i embarked on a 30 day course.
The gel needed to be kept in the fridge so that it was super, super cold and every morning i took a 60ml shot of the juice. It is horrible hahaha, i know many people find it quite pleasant to take, but i actually find the taste very bitter and it makes me shudder, but i took it every day, before doing anything else – even before applying my make up, hence the photo below, without fail. Please note, that these results were purely just my own and every individual will vary.
By the end of my first week i actually had lost 2lbs in weight, which i wasn’t expecting. I had not changed my diet or lifestyle in anyway that week so that was a nice little bonus. By the end of week two i had noticed that i started feeling a little more energised and awake in the mornings, again, nothing else in my diet or lifestyle had changed. By the end of my 30 day trial i had lost 5lb in weight, which i had not expected to loose, my reflux issues seemed to have calmed down an awful lot and my usually unsettled stomach, was much more stable. The only place i didn’t really see any difference was in my nails, which was a shame as some else i know that uses this gel has seen a great change in her nails, but mine were still thin and flaky, and my hair looked the same, but to be honest i do have thick, healthy hair anyway.
I enjoyed the results so much that i actually embarked on another course. I just wished the gel tasted better but i have since found out that Forever Living do make the gel in a variety of flavours which you can purchase HERE
As someone that has previously tried Aloe Vera juice before from different brands, i was pleased to be able to try this in a gel form and was very happy with my results. For me i think this would be great to use at least every other month, if not every day.
Individual results may vary
Have you ever tried Aloe Vera gel before? I would love to hear from you if you have.
