One little wand, one shade, and you’re done. Swipe it over the lid and blend with your fingertip for a soft, effortless wash of colour. And because the applicator has a precise tip, you can use it close to the lash line too — so it can do a bit more than just eyeshadow.

There are lots of shades and finishes to choose from, but 22M is one I reach for when I want that polished-but-I-haven’t-really-tried look.

Coming to get my nails done for the first time sin

Coming to get my nails done for the first time since my surgery.

And honestly, it felt like so much more than just getting my nails done.

This is the first little thing I’ve been able to do purely for myself since my surgery — something that makes me feel a little bit more like me again.

Of course, when you’re not very mobile, something as simple as getting your nails done suddenly involves a whole lot of logistics. Taxis there and back, getting from the taxi into the salon, making sure I can manage it physically… and, inevitably, a lot more cost than there would normally be.

But sometimes you have to decide that something is worth it.

Because after months of surgery, recovery, pain, limitations and having to think about what my body can and can’t do, I needed to do something that reminded me that I’m still in here.

It might seem like a small thing, but this feels like another little step towards getting back to me. And right now, I’ll take every little step I can get.
