I have been wanting to try ColourPop for the longest time, years infact. I was always put off by the fact that I hadn’t tried the formula and didn’t want to waste customs fees and money testing something out that I may not be sure of.
When Zoella mentioned she was collaborating with ColourPop earlier this month, I knew I had to get on board. Firstly, they were waving the customs fees on the collection if you ordered immediatley and secondly I was super intrigued by the kind of make up she would produce seeing as she wants to portray herself as more “Grown Up”.
ColourPop is well known for its affordability as well as its pigment in shadows and creamy formula in lip products so I was super excited to play. I purchased the PR Collection a few days before it launched (presell) and have had it in my hands for just over two weeks now.
The purchase was super easy and I went for the full PR Kit option costing $89.00, the only problem was that it took over two weeks to arrive. I had obviously seen the collection online so knew what the packaging and theme would look like, and although the “Brunch Date” packaging is a little kitch and twee for me, I think a much younger audience would love it. However it was the products themselves that I was most interested in.
Included in the PR Collection, which contains everything launched, were the following items:
From the moment I opened this palette I was hooked! The colours are exactly what I would produce if I had the chance to create my own so I was in absolute heaven. A selection of warm and cool tones in both matte and shimmer shades, this effortlessly takes you from day to night in the flick of a make up brush. Immediately I was drawn to the heavenly Blue shade. This colour is me all over, from a hit under the lower lash line, to a cheeky Smokey eye, there is nothing this stunning shadow cannot create. The mattes are beautifully creamy and blend like an absolute dream and the shimmers are stunning when applied with a flat top brush in a pressing motion.
The palette is the perfect size, with twelve buttery soft shades included and a great sized mirror. The design of the packaging is not my ‘cup of tea’ (see what I did there), but the theme is cute and the shadows hands down win on performance. At $18.00 per palette this is so worthy of purchasing! If all ColourPop shadows have this consistency of creamy, easy to blend textures, mixed with longevity and vibrance of colour, then i will deffo purchase more! I am absolutely hooked! Nice one Zoe!
Again not a fan of the plastic pink packaging BUT for an $8.00 blush i am certainly not complaining. Soul Mate is that perfect pop of pretty pink. It is highly pigmented so go gently with your blush brush. The formula feels creamy, even though it is a powder and sits beautifully on the skin – even my 44 year old dehydrated skin. Containing silky powders, it glides on like a dream leaving a Matte pink that is easily buildable to which ever level of shade you want.
This highlighter I was a little disappointed with as it’s so super subtle I couldn’t actually see it on my face. It swatched beautifully on my finger but when I applied it to my cheekbones it just looked powdery with no “light” what-so-ever, however as an inner corner shadow on my eyes it works well so I can at least use it there. I would be interested to hear from anyone with a different skin tone to see how you got on with it. Not one I would repurchase.
Next up in a super cute Milk Carton style packaging is a “Shadow bundle”. Included are two very pretty brand new shadows. OG is a beautiful hit of foil in gold sprinkled with a touch of silver, and Bellini, my personal favourite is a gorgeous Rose Gold. These come in very substantial tubes containing 4.7g of product.
The doe foot applicator is a little flimsy so I use it to lay the product in the centre of my eye and then blend out with my finger or a brush. Bellini is an opaque, full wash of colour and OG lays a more shimmer shade. These are really beautiful to top your eyeshadow with and add that hit of sunshine. Perfect all year round and at $7.00 each, you just can’t go wrong!
Included in my collection were two Crème gel eyeliners. One in the shade XOXO, a pearlized black which glides really easily with absolutely no tugging and lays down a nice black shade, but not deep black and the second in Sincerley Yours. Sincerley Yours is a pearlized brown, which is quite a light brown, suits all eye colours and glides on easily. The brown was just a touch patchy, but I might have had a dodgy one, however the packaging is cute, with a twist up point and the colour literally lasts all day.
Included in this package is a lip pencil and Ultra Matte Lip. This collection is sooooo gorgeous and I am in love with the lip! The Pencil and Matte lip are both in the shade Little One, which is a beautiful Pinky Nude, erring more on the side of a true nude. The pencil is super creamy, creates a perfect outline, thanks to the sharp point and literally stays put all day long, I am so impressed!! The Matte Lip, also in the shade Little One, is beautiful too!
It literally glides on offering a full opaque shade in one swipe!! It feels siky, creamy and again, once dry, which takes seconds, it stays absolutely put and does not transfer onto cups or people! The only thing i am not keen on is the weird, almost plasticine type smell when applying it. The colour is just beautiful though, it literally blends in with my natural lips and if you are a nude lip lover, you will adore this. The only tiny little bug bear is that on my mature lips it does show up lines, so to combat this I make sure my lips are exfoliated and smooth. A very comfortable, non drying Matte Lip, Very, very impressed!
As above, this collection also contains a lip pencil and Matte Liquid Lip and OMG this colour is insanely good!! If you love a true red lipstick then this is for you!! I am completely obsessed by this colour! It makes your teeth look white and really does warm up the complexion. It is a true, Classy Red that feels very comfortable, almost whipped in texture, and is long lasting, kiss proof and non transferable.
This complete collection that I went for also comes in a clear Make up bag with the Zoella x ColourPop branding on it, which would be perfect for travelling. There was supposed to be another Lip Bundle included but sadly my order was a bit wrong and they sent me two lip bundles in the same shade. As this had all customs included, this was a great way for me to try ColourPop as a brand and I am absolutely blown away at the consistency of the formulas, the longevity, buildability and quite frankly the affordability of this brand. The packaging as I have mentioned is not for me, but it does suit Zoella’s Teen market well and is a cute theme. I would one hundred percent purchase from ColourPop again off the back of this collaboration AND I am actually looking forward to seeing what other make up Zoella will be bringing out as she hit jackpot with this collection.
Have you tried Colourpop yet, or would you after reading my review? Let me know, by leaving me a comment below! Have a lovely day
