Whenever anything new from Kate Sommerville lands on my desk i always sit up and listen. I absolutely adore Kate and have had the pleasure of being part of an interview with her, listening to her share her skincare knowledge and asking her a few questions about sagging skin – the answer was a facelift!!
Hydrakate is a section of Kates skincare brand that focuses on deeper, faster and long lasting hydration. I find it to be soothing on my mature skin and i love that it always offers my skin a glow without feeling sticky or tacky in anyway.
I was super surprised to see the new launch Power Plumping Primer which crosses my love of skincare and make up. As a make up artist and make up obsessive, we all know that the key to great make up is skin prep.
What i soon discovered about the Power Plumping Primer is that it is actually much more of a moisturiser than a primer and part of me feels it should have been marketed more as that. Powered by Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Acid, this clinical-grade hybrid formula delivers an instant, revitalizing boost of plumping, cooling hydration for a smooth, luminous and plump complexion. This also contains Cica + Centellarestore which hydrate while strengthening the skin barrier and leaves a smooth base. I enjoyed how this almost “filled” my fine lines due to that added burst of hydration my dehydrated skin always needs and how it did appear to make my make up last longer.
I actually really like this product. As someone that always used to wear a make up primer, i more recently pass them up for great skincare. Here is the “juxtaposition” with this product…. i would not spend £78 on this as a “make up” primer. However, i would happily spend £78 on this as a super lightweight, hydrating, cooling and soothing moisturiser that my mature skin actually really loves. Take from that what you will!

Another new launch from Kate that i am really enjoying is the Hydrakate Pro Collagen Lip Oil Elixir . This gives a really satisfying pop as you pull it out of the tube ( it’s the little things right?) and has a pointed doe foot applicator which fits the cupids bow and curve of the lip really well. Unlike so many other lip oils that i have tried, this is not thick, gloopy or sticky. This offers a lovely hydration and softness to the lips as well as a pretty sheen. Worn alone or over a make up pencil this is the perfect handbag friendly lip oil. Available HERE
