I love the heat as much as anyone, give me the sunshine, SPF, a glass of wine and I’m happy. However, as someone who admits to being built for comfort and not speed, the heat does weird things to me. Well, not the heat exactly, but the hot, dry, humid 90 degree volcanic blast of air that is currently enveloping us during this mini-heatwave. It is hard to deal with whilst continuing about our daily chores. My face turns to a sweaty, melting mess and believe me, no one, can rock that look!
My top five must have summer face mists
When it is too hot to sleep, or i have work at my computer to do, i always, always reach for a spray mist of some kind to instantly cool me down and hydrate my skin. Whether i am in the kitchen cooking, or watching my son play tennis, again there will always be a handy spray mist near me. These have long since become a staple in my beauty and summer routine. I wanted to share some of my favourites with you, to help you through every event from labour, sports day, work, the commute home, cleaning, cooking , setting your make up or just slobbing out on the sofa.
Jane Iredale LemonGrass Loves Hydration Spray
This has been one of my favourite products for such a long time now. If you follow me on InstaStories you will always see me posting about this spray. I adore Mist sprays, and used one constantly during my 14 hour labour a few years ago, and this one smells incredible. This spray is sooo addictive you will be spraying it all over, it is incredibly hydrating and the perfect finishing touch to set your make up. Full of hydrating ingredient’s such as Lemon Grass, this facial spray helps minimise the appearance of pores, holds back oiliness and also stops the skin from drying out and gives an all over plumpness to the skin. It is a light spray that smells delicious and feels lovely and cooling on the skin. Great to wet your shadow brushes with and transform your mineral eye shadows into eyeliners. Seriously, once you use it you will become addicted. I use this as a make up setting spray, I use it when I am feeling unwell and my skin needs a pick-me-up, when I am in a hot bath I spray this over my face, in warm weather it cools me down and also just before I remove a hard face mask, I apply a spray of this. A very versatile, vegan friendly mist with 100 % of profits being donated to Against Breast Cancer.
A’Kin Hydrating Mist Toner –
A’Kin Hydrating Mist Toner
On really, really hot, humid days, when i want a “freshen up” cleansing routine, i love to follow on with this recently launched Hydrating Mist Toner. Suitable for all skin types, which is great as mine is incredibly dehydrated, this instantly cools and tones the skin upon application. Infused with Organic Coconut Water and enriched with Green Tea and Chamomile, this toner adds hydration to the skin, whilst also soothing, tired, stressed or red skin. Perfect used after cleansing but also a great item to leave beside your computer for a quick refreshing spritz throughout the day. I enjoy this as a setting spray over my foundation too!
Utan and Tone Coconut Tanning Water
As an absolute addict to anything Coconut and basically consuming my weight in Coconut water each day, this was always going to be a winner for me. Naturally hydrating, this coconut tanning water is incredibly pure and contains very few ingredients. As well as smelling absolutely incredible (making you drift off to lands far away instead of my back garden in Essex) it feels cooling and soothing on the skin. Perfect for use in warmer weather as it lifts and hydrates the skin.
Incredibly easy to use to get a naturally even and glowing sun kissed look, shake the can and starting from the neck, spray in a zig zag motion upwards to the top of your face. I love this because it can be used anytime of the day under or over make up to refresh the skin as a hydrating mist, but also to build a level of colour over 4-6 hours. You just cannot over use it and it adds a completely natural glow to your skin.
SkinSense PH Balancing Micellar Toner
This product really surprised me actually, as toners can be quite boring and drying. We all know how important it is to tone our skin after cleansing to restore the PH balance, help tighten the pores and remove any cleanser residue. What I really like about this mist, is how incredibly refreshing and hydrating it feels on the skin.
It smells incredibly uplifting and bright and feels lovely and soft on the skin. This is a beautiful spritz mist that is an absolute must have on sticky, summer days to just awaken, refresh and refine the skin. A must have in your holiday essentials.
Pixi Vitamin Wakeup Mist
To be fair, i really, really enjoy all of the Pixi mists (Post coming soon) but at the moment, during this mini heatwave, i have been reaching more for the Vitamin Wakeup Mist. This sunshine orange mist spray, smells absolutely incredible. This is next to my bed, so that when i struggle to wake up, i literally grab this and spray it over my face. It is quite a big spray that feels like a cool splash of water over the skin to wake me up. I then continue with my morning cleansing routine and use this spray anytime during the day i need a wake up and freshen up. Orange blossom is expertly blended with citrus fruit extract, arginine and lavender and wakes up and freshens up the skin. It really boosts the complexion, is fantastic sprayed over make up to refresh it, and brightens up the skin quick and easy. Great for your handbag if you are going from work to drinks and need to be refreshed.
I hope this post helps you find a great spray mist to use throughout the summer and beyond. Do you have a favourite that i should try? Please leave me a comment below as i love hearing from you
