My Top School Summer Holiday Essentials – Child of a Beauty Blogger

I have literally sixteen days and counting until my youngest son breaks up for the school Summer holidays and I am ecstatic. I live for the school holidays. I am one of those parents that relish Every.Single.Moment. with my children. Even though I have to fit everything in around them, I manage it and I do it, but Summer is about them and for making memories.

Top School Summer Holiday Essentials

Over the years there have been many products that have become staples either in my handbag or in the bathroom during the fun, adventure filled,  school holidays, so I thought I would share some with you.

Ultrasun Family 30

Ultrasun Family 30 SPF

This is the product I use on 9 year old in the summer in the UK and have done, happily, for years. Perfect for the whole family, this is suitable for anyone, even those with sensitive skin. In an easy to use squeeze tube, this is the one I reach for to use across my chest to prevent prickly heat. I used to get it so bad it would be sore and itchy and look like huge blister bumps and was so unsightly and uncomfortable in the summer. In the many years I have been using this, I have never since suffered. Free from perfumes, emulsifiers and with no preservatives, this water-resistant once-a-day application is a staple for my family in the summer. I also carry a smaller pocket size around in case re-application is needed on super hot days or after swimming. Always apply to the skin indoors, at least 30 minutes before sun exposure so that it can bond to the skin. Available online from Ultrasun, Qvcuk or M&S

PurePotions Rescue Salves set of 4

Purepotions Rescue Salves

Ok, these are not just for parents of little ones….but as a parent of a little one and a big one…these balms are a much needed addition to my handbag, glove compartment, coat pocket, first aid box. You name it! An absolutely brilliant set of must haves that everyone can benefit from, and in such a cute size making them easy to use.

Arnica Rescue Salve 15ml – This little tin, might be small but it sure is powerful! Now as I said above, these are not just for kids. Recently i had a nasty fall. I literally did not see a kerb and kind of fell off! ( nope wasn’t drinking!) I landed, smash down on my knee and believe me there is a lot of me to land! That night i was greeted with the biggest, ugliest, most painful, swollen bruise i think i have ever had. When i got home i smothered my knee in this salve and the swelling started to reduce, the bruising began to come out and it was all over and done with in a few days.
I have always used Arnica anyway on my own aches and pains and on my Children when they fall and hurt themselves. It is “mummy’s magic cream” and always makes them feel better. This 15ml size is perfect to have on you at all times just in case.

Calendula and Comfrey Rescue Salve 15ml – This salve is perfect for use in healing wounds as it has anti inflammatory properties and can be used on cuts and grazes. Again perfect on children and babies, football players, rugby players those that play sports and may sustain grazes as a result of a sliding tackle ( can you tell i have boys?). I Currently have this in my coat pocket and have been using this as a lip-salve during this hot, sunny weather. Really easy to use just by swirling my finger gently over the top. Deeply hydrating, great for chapped lips and no taste or smell.

Lavender Rescue Salve 15ml – A gorgeous salve to keep handy in the kitchen as it is great on burns, so if you always manage to catch yourself on the oven, then pop some of this on. Lavender is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and has analgesic properties so is also great on sunburn, windburn on face and cheeks and great as a lip salve too. A really fab all rounder to pop in your travel bag.

Tea Tree Rescue Salve 15ml – I think most of us know the amazing benefits of Tea Tree. It has been used for centuries and is still many peoples go to product. It is antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. This product is amazing on cold sores, spots, bites, stings and fungal conditions. When you open it you can only smell the faintest smell of Tea Tree so it really is not off putting at all. Super handy to have on any trips and holidays with the kids, especially when camping!

In my opinion every home should have this rescue set. It is great for everyone, including babies, and all situations, holidays, sports, day-trips, day to day and everything in between. Thanks to the consistency of the Salve each tin will last an age. You only need to use sparingly and not ” dig” the product out of the tin.

Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Wet Wipes

Australian Body Care Wipes

These are absolutely invaluable for many reasons! I actually buy these packs in boxes of ten! There is not a bag, backpack or car dash in our family that does not have a packet of these in. For so many years we have used these on family outings and within our household for everything from wiping tables and chairs in restaurants before sitting down to eat, wiping toilet seats, sinks and shower basins in hotels and caravans on little holidays, to cleaning toys and books. My youngest also suffers from car sickness unfortunately so we have a stash of these in the back of the car to not only clean him up after but also quickly and hygienically wipe down the car seat. Great to use if you need to freshen up on a hot day, if there is no loo roll in a ……heaven forbid….port-a-loo (Gulp), or to use after you have been on the underground. Each handy, portable pack contains 24 soft and gentle wipes infused with naturally antiseptic Tea Tree Oil, they are free from alcohol and suitable for use on the body. Great at festivals, at the beach to clean sand out between your toes and anywhere else….to wipe down flip flops, sandals, to clean cuts and scrapes until you can get to remove make up, .in actual fact apart from putting these on your eyes, there is not much these cant do!! Must have. You can purchase these HERE

Merci Handy Hand Sanitiser

Merci Handy Hand Sanitiser

I don’t think there is a parent in the land, that doesn’t have some form of hand gel in their handbag, nappy bag, pocket and/or car. These little gems of cleanliness from Merci Handy have featured so much on my InstaStories this year and we use and love them all the time. These brightly coloured, prettily scented hand gels are non sticky, non drying and do not have that strong alcohol smell that many hand gels have. They come in a range of scents including Black Vanilla and Flower Power which are our favourites and contain little pops of blue moisturiser dots that melt into the skin on application. Great for adults and kids alike. Available in Topshop and online HERE.

Childs Farm Products

Childs Farm Hair and BodyWash

Childs Farm is a range of children’s toiletries that were created by a mum and tried and approved by her own children before hitting the market. Suitable for new-borns upwards they are branded in a bright, fun way, are suitable for anyone with sensitive skin and smell gorgeous. Paediatrician and Dermatologist approved, these products are sure to get the kids in the bath or shower at the end of a busy day. My son has been a HUGE fan of these for months now, he loves the uplifting, fruity, Blackberry & Organic Apple Scent of the Hair and Body wash that foams beautifully and leaves him feeling clean and smelling delicious.

Childs Farm Bubble Bath

When he is in the bath he adds some of the award winning Bubble Bath that smells mouth-wateringly of Raspberry, and creates light, fluffy bubbles that are great for relaxing and playing in.

Childs Farm Moisturiser

The last product that he really enjoys and keeps by his bed side is the Moisturiser. This is in a really handy pump dispenser and is possibly my favourite scent, It is so mouth-wateringly fruity and zesty and smells of Grapefruit. It also contains antibacterial Organic Tea Tree Oil, which leaves his skin feeling really hydrated and smelling fruity fresh. He loves to apply this to his hands, arms and legs after bathing and asks me to apply it to his back and shoulders after any time in the sun. This leaves his skin beautifully soft and supple and smelling amazing. This whole range is such a joy for him to use and really does not dry out his skin. It is guaranteed to get him in the shower for a good forty minutes…yep forty!! Followed up by the gloriously hydrating moisturiser this is one range that I would highly recommend for your adventurous children that love their own bath products. I am so looking forward to trying out more from the range, I think I will go for the Handwash, Conditioner and Detangler next as my son has shoulder length hair.  Childs Farm is available in Boots, Superdrug and Asda but also Check out their website HERE for some great offers, fun and information. I highly recommend this range.

I hope this post introduces you to some new product ranges or gives you some ideas for products you already love. Which are your must have, Summer, family products? Leave me a comment below, I would love to hear from you. Shop the blog below

I too cannot live over here without my Ultrasun and I had previously tried so many things to rid me of my prickly heat. The Australian Bodycare wipes sound like I need them in my beachbag and handbag as do the super cute hand sanitizers. Super super cute photos – loving the theme 😉 xxx Celia xxx
