Testing: New Mists...... Do i need to add a mist to my beauty routine?

With so many new products launched daily and the current assumption that more is more, it can be really overwhelming knowing what to use when it comes to your make up and skincare routine. I know I have days where I want to pamper, and nuture my skin, and other times, as a busy working mum, that I barely have five minutes to myself. One question that I have been asked a lot lately is "Do I need to add a Mist to my Beauty routine?"

I am of the belief that you should only buy products that you are going to use. Sounds silly right? But look around your bathroom, beauty room, and dressing table and ask yourself "When was the last time I used that?". So I never want you to read my blog and think oooh I need that about every single product. However, that said, mists I think, play a huge role in your skincare and make up routine.

There is a mist for everything these days. They prep, prime, set and hydrate your skin if used at the right time. Below are a selection of mists I am currently enjoying for varying reasons. A few are PR samples, but the majority I have purchased myself.

Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water -

Avene eau thermale

We have used this in our household for the last three Summers. Children and adults alike love this fine mist spray that delivers a refreshing mist of cooling Avene Thermal Spring Water. Taken directly from its French source, this Spring is well known for its soothing and calming properties and is especially wonderful on Rosacea skin and anyone with a sensitive, or hot skin. We use it in the Summer, (and especially this current heatwave of 35 degrees in Essex), to cool down our skin, but it also works wonderfully as an anti-irritant, to set make up and to refresh the skin. Perfect for Sensitive Skin

* Murad Resurgence Hydrating Toner -

Murad Resurgence Hydrating Toner

Wow and Wow! The very second I received this toner, I sprayed it all over my face and literally started singing hahahaha. This smells absolutely beautiful. An alcohol free toner which instantly hydrates and cools dehydrated skin, whilst restoring the moisture balance is an absolute must have for my dehydrated skin. Perfect for use in warm weather too as it contains Cucumber and Grape Seed Extracts which not only hydrate but also soften the skin. To be used as a toner after cleansing as it readdresses the skin, but also wonderful as a quick pick-me-up during the day if your skin is feeling sapped of moisture due to either hot weather or air conditioning. When I use this after cleansing, my skin not only feels soft but looks plump and takes on my moisturiser beautifully. I do love anything by Murad and this is no exception. Perfect for skin lacking hydration.

Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Face Mist -

Herbivore rose hibiscus

A bit of a mouthful but totally worth it. If you read my post on Herbivore HERE, you will understand that this brand is all about clean beauty. The ingredients used are pure and super kind to all skin types. I fell in love with the brand back in April and am continuing to explore it. When I read about this mist I knew I had to purchase it and give it a try. This mist contains a cacophony of ingredients suited to skin that may be prone to breakouts and needs hydration and looking after. The bottle is just beautiful and the spray, although a little forceful, does deliver a lovely amount of product to the skin. Containing Coconut Water for hydration, Hibiscus Flower to promote cell turnover, Rose to reduce redness and inflammation, Witch Hazel to tighten and treat the skin and Aloe Vera to soothe and treat breakouts, this is a one stop shop. Best when applied after cleansing the skin, this does offer a tight feeling. As someone that does not really suffer breakouts, I do find that I need to add a lot of moisturiser to hydrate my skin afterwards and I would not use this as a refreshing mist throughout the day, However, if you do have a more unbalanced skin, this would be wonderful for you. Perfect for unbalanced skin and lovers of clean beauty products.

Iconic London Water Mist Glow -

Iconic London prep set and glow spray

Oh my goodness does this have a glow! I only purchased this a couple of weeks ago and I already love it and use it so much. Be prepared though, this is for glow Queens! Described as a prep, set, glow mist, this is a multi tasking product that comes in so useful when wearing make up. This 100% vegan mist contains Cucumber and Chamomile as well as antioxidant Green tea and a hit of caffeine. This is your make up setting spray which can also be used as a primer and just to add a glow to bare skin. Be warned though, you must shake the product before use and you must spray it at least 12 inches from the face otherwise you will look like a disco ball. When you follow those instructions, this becomes a fabulous addition to your make up kit.

Personally, I like to use it before make up, as more of a primer, as it does have quite a big spray which has a tendency to leave globules of glow product on the skin. I then like to take a damp beauty blender and press this into my skin to leave a bronze glow which makes a wonderful base for make up. I personally would be scared to spray this after my make up for fear or ruining it, but as a pre make up primer, it is incredible. P.S....If you spray a little on your shoulders, décolleté and arms, it leaves a lovely shimmery glitter glow. Perfect for anyone wanting a glow!

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist -

Morphe continuous mist setting spray

Without a shadow of a doubt this is one of the best, if not THE best, make up setting sprays I have ever used. The mist is super fine, yet continuous and covers my whole face in just one, maybe two sweeps. It is super cooling and hydrating on the skin, without leaving it drenched and sets make up all, day, long. I have been testing this for two weeks in temperatures up to 33 degrees and my make up has stayed in place. I bought this myself and have just placed a second order. If you need or want your make up to literally last, all day, I would highly recommend this.

Stellar Décolletage Dry Oil Mist -

stellar decolletage dry oil mist

This brand is absolutely exquisite and I have been lucky enough to try out the complete range over the past few months so watch this space. Today I am sharing my love for their Dry Oil Mist. For use across the décolleté and over the bust, this award winning formula aims to diminish lines, wrinkles and stretch marks. For me, my décolletage has had a battering due to sun damage many, many years ago, and I have achieved a lovely, supple, more even skin toned look since using this product. Containing six vitamin rich oils including Inca Inchi, Sweet Almond Oil, Macadamia Oil, Shea Butter, Omega 6, Jojoba Seed Oil and Borage Oil, this boots skins hydration and conditions and protects the skin. It comes beautifully presented in a decedent glass bottle, smells incredible and is an absolute joy to use. It does say to use Am and Pm however due to this warm weather of late I have been smothering my SPF on my chest during the day and layering this on in the evening. My skin is smoother and brighter and I love it. Perfect for anyone with lines, wrinkles and stretch marks.

For me, I incorporate mists into my daily skincare routine and make up routine everyday. They just add that extra boots of hydration or staying power that my skin needs. I hope I have introduced you to some new Mists. Let me know some of your favourites below. For previous mists I wrote about, go HERE

  3. Never used mists much, but in the heat they've been a saving grace. I only hate the ones that seem to stain clothes if you spray a bit close
