Celebrating their 250th Anniversary, Yardley London is now the oldest Fragrance House in the World! With one English Lavender product sold every minute around the world – using over 400 litres of distilled Lavender every year, this Heritage brand has deservedly earned six Royal Warrants and every one of its beauty awards. Wow! 250 Years of Yardley London.
Yardley London has always been a brand I have been aware of with Yardley Blue Grass (sadly no longer available) being my nans favourite ever fragrance . I grew up seeing her spritz her pretty fragrance, wear a Yardley Lipstick and my beloved grandad wore their talc in a yellow tin!!. My nans dressing table of products was what gave me my love of all things Beauty.
For me it’s the History and the nostalgia behind the brand that I am fascinated with. I cannot believe we have had 250 years of Yardley London! With a Heritage that goes right back to the reign of Charles 1 in the 1600’s, swinging into the sixties with Twiggy being the Brand Ambassador behind a range of false lashes, this Beauty House has always been much more ahead-of-the-game than many of us may realise.
Not only famous for their iconic fragrances, Yardley London helped the war effort in the 1940’s by encouraging woman to “put their best face forward everyday” with the make up they produced from their Basildon (Essex) Factory. What surprised me though was how incredibly forward thinking they were as a brand back in 1956 when they launched refillable lipsticks! Move over Charlotte Tilbury! Blimey! That must have been incredible
Broadening its appeal to a new audience, Yardley London have created more contemporary fragrances, bath and body products for both men and women alongside their Iconic classic florals. The pretty glass bottles and colourful packaging easily draw in the eye and look beautiful on the dressing table and with all fragrances being cruelty free, suitable for Vegans and 98 % of ingredients sustainably sourced, they are absolutely at the forefront of their consumer..
With a range of Flirty Florals, Zesty Fruity scents and warmer Musk their really is a fragrance for everyone. I was kindly sent the following fragrances to try :
A beautifully fresh, light, elegant fragrance with top notes of bergamot and clary sage with a heart of calming English Lavender subtly combining notes of eucalyptus, geranium, jasmine, chamomile and violet, enhanced with deeper, warm base noes of wood, vanilla and patchouli.
A light, feminine and fresh, fruity floral fragrance blending uplifting citrus, bergamot, lemon and cassis chords with a flirty heart of bluebell, jasmine, rose, lily of the valley and peony accented with a touch of sweet pea and enhanced with smooth, woody notes, vanilla and musk.
A fruity, spicy floral blending citrus and cassis with cherry blossom and pink pepper and a floral heart of rose, peach, lilac and geranium with woody notes, patchouli and musk.
My favourite of all is the Blossom & Peach it is wonderfully light and something you can easily spritz on without that fear of it being overpowering or cloying. Flirty, Feminine and affordable these fragrances lift the mood, are easy to wear and make wonderful gifts. Can you believe we have had 250 years of Yardley London?
