Every year Jo Malone release a limited edition collection of fragrances and this years are not to be missed! The Jo Malone Wild Flowers and Weeds Collection takes you on a beautiful journey along London’s Canals in Springtime.
Whilst the thought of walking along Camden Lock on a busy Sunday afternoon may not conjure up thoughts of wonderful scents, once you try these you are whisked of to a world of wonder and delight. The noses behind this collection – Yann Vasnier and Louise Turner – have taken something so pure, natural and pretty much unnoticed, dare i say the underdog of the plant world, and transformed the common weed into a thing of pure delight and beauty. Weeds are usually the first flowers of Spring, they usually have a beautiful, sharp, tangy or effervescent scent, however, sadly, we do not let them linger around enough to enjoy. By blending these scents into delicious fragrances, a simply magical and very clever range has been created. From the beautiful painted glass bottle with a white lid, to the eclectic scents, this really is a range you need to get on board with, before they disappear.
There are five unique fragrances in this collection and I have been lucky enough to try all of them, thanks to the wonderful Jo Malone team at Fenwick London. I was kindly invited into the Bond Street store, to delight in the fragrances and test the scents for myself.
One of my favourites from this collection is the Willow & Amber fragrance. I adore how light and soft it smells, which is funny in itself as I dislike the smell of Willow on its own. This brought back sweet memories for me. As a young child, my sister and I would play over at the local park where they had a huge Willow tree with its weeping branches that hung down and touched the floor. We would run and hide underneath its umbrella of branches and be tickled by the leaves on our faces. Enhanced by the sensuality and softness of Amber, and blended with the woody notes of Cashmere and Smokey Vetiver it brings those happy memories flooding back. A comforting, happy fragrance. This is a fragrance I absolutely was not expecting to like and ended up being the fragrance I bought!! This is colourful and brave and loud and just so, so beautiful. The bottle is reminiscent of canal boats and is colourfully decorated with Lupins which pulls you in with its brightness when it sits on your dressing table. Why was I expecting not to like it? Well Patchouli reminds me of Joss sticks and I dislike that type of back of the throat cloying smell, but this is nothing like that. I used to grow Lupins, which are toxic, in my old home, they would grow tall, beautiful and proud and certainly had a presence. This is what the cologne says to me. I am here, I have a presence, notice me. I am ok with that hahahaha. This fragrance has a hint of Rose, which I am not usually a fan of, is then deepened with the Patchouli and then has a hit of freshness from Mandarin. It is like nothing I have ever smelt before and there is nothing I can compare it to. I just know it is me and I love it plus it layers beautifully with other Jo Malone Fragrances. Purchase HERE

Another beautiful, beautiful bottle that will pull you in. This cologne has a bite, you can almost smell the sting of the nettle, which I know sounds strange but it was the first thing I said when I smelt it. Possibly my least favourite of the collection, this is a very sparkly and bright scent, but my nose pulls out the scent of the nettle. However, I know so many people are really enjoying this fragrance. Wild Achillea is that white flower that is often spotted in forests and obviously alongside canals, and when you see it you will be very familiar with it. It does have a rounded softness about it which I really like. This is definitely a wake up fragrance and I think a very, very unique scent. Purchase HERE

Hemlock is a deadly floral however it is perfectly safe in this cologne, haha. This fragrance has a bite…it is soft and powdery fresh thanks to the inclusion of Mimosa but I think it is the Cucumber that gives it that crispness and bite. Birch Leaves and White Musk are also blended to give it a real modern twist. A wonderfully uplifting fragrance with a deadly twist. Purchase HERE

Capturing the smokey scent of woodburners on a canal boat, this is a warm, sensual, almost manly type of Cologne. I would wear this myself layered with something more floral, but I think a man would smell gorgeous in this also. Cade comes from burnt Juniper wood so it is a very original fragrance and it warms with the skin wonderfully. Rounded of with the creaminess of Vanilla, this is a neck nuzzling cologne that I have fallen deeply in love with. Purchase HERE

This collection is possibly one of the most unique that I have ever smelt. It is such a beautifully, creative range of fragrances that just cannot help but make you happy. From the story to the painted bottles you just fall in love the moment you see and try them. I hope you get the chance to head to a counter to try them, as I did with the lovely Team at Fenwick London. If you see Amy or Orlagh tell them I said hello.
The Jo Malone Limited Edition Weed and Wildflowers collection has a promotion on where if you buy two bottles instore, you get to choose from a selection of beautiful presentation tins.
