I cannot tell you how excited I am about this launch. Literally, I am OBSSESED with everything that Pat McGrath does. The Woman, the Make up Artist, the Icon, the Legend and, according to Anna Wintour of Vogue ” The most influential make up artist in the world”. If you have loved make up, with a passion, your whole entire life, you will know who Pat McGrath is.
Born in Northampton but with a very noticeable Cockney twang ( Takes one to know one) thanks to her move and being brought up in London, there is NOTHING Pat does not know about make up. Awarded an MBE in 2014 for services to Fashion and Beauty was just the cherry on the top of a cake of a fabulously rewarding career sprawling over decades. Not only is Pat McGrath famous for her breakthrough ad campaigns, launching and developing luxury beauty brands and her absolutely iconic global runway show looks and editorials, but she also became the Global Beauty Creative Design Director for Proctor & Gamble in 2004. She oversees Covergirl, Max Factor, Created : The Make Up for Dolce & Gabanna and more recently designed and launched Gucci’s debut Cosmetic Collection.
Everything this women touches turns to GOLD, quite literally, including her own luxury beauty brand. Her eye for detail, for colour, for fresh dewy skin has seen her create trends long before they were trends. She is a force to be reckoned with. When Selfridges announced they would be launching her collection as a homecoming omage to “The Queen” of make up, I was hooked!
This is no ordinary make up line, this is pure luxury, this is her homecoming back to London line up. It is expensive, but so, so worth it to complete make up obsessives like me. The Selfridges line up features an array of her signature lipsticks, single eyeshadows, Lit highlighters and incredible eye shadow palettes. I have the Mothership V Palette and two lipsticks to share with you today.
From the outer, cardboard packaging to the beveled mirror included inside the palette everything about Mothership V screams LUXURY. I absolutely defy anyone to not look at this palette and scream, do a little dance, make a little love and quite frankly, get down tonight! This palette does things to the mind that no other make up can…literally mind blown. ( Can you tell i’m a super fan?) The moment you hold this sleek, black palette in your hand you are sold, hook, line and sinker. Yes it feels like a brick and no, it’s not going to accompany you on nights out but, it will take pride of place on your dressing table and make you feel happy every time you open it. All that’s missing is a fanfare of music upon lifting the lid hahaha!
The outer packaging is bright and colourful in design but as soon as you untie the string and release it from its packaging you see the most sleek, almost handbag like palette. Included are 10 eyeshadow pans containing a total of 13.2g of shadow. These extravagantly extra-terrestrial shades as my mate Pat likes to say, are THE most pigmented, buttery soft, shadows I have EVER experienced. Now, I am no make up artist, but I am a make up junkie through and through that currently owns over 50 eyeshadow palettes and probable has had hundreds if not thousands in my 44 years. I can honestly hand on heart tell you…..THESE ARE INSANE!! I have not been paid to say that, damn, I wasn’t even sent this in PR, this is one beautiful palette.
You have sparkle shades, metallic and mattes and they compliment each other beautifully as well as complementing all skin tones. These are one swipe does all shadows but if you are of a pale skin tone, you can blend and buff them out and if you are a darker skin tone, then bingo, you have hit jackpot on this pigment range. Now, look…. I’m not going to tell you to rush out and buy a £115.00 palette! I’m going to show you hahahahahaha………..From the Queen of Fashion week to the Queen of eye shadow palettes I will forever be in awe of the magic that is Pat McGrath. Purchase HERE
Oh dear lord, she has done it again and you know I want each and every bloody lipstick, but at £35.00 I will bankrupt myself! I thought I would start with everyone’s favourite a “classic” nude and my favourite a “daring red”. So, Valletta, named after Pat’s lucky charm, friend and supermodel Amber Valletta is a beautifully creamy, slightly peachy undertone Nude that will take your breath away. I don’t know how she has done it, but if you have been searching for your perfect Nude…. you are welcome! The packaging is absolute goals! The sleek black, with the signature Gold lips protruding from the bullet, make these lipsticks look and feel incredibly luxe and high end. The forumula is super comfortable, wonderfully creamy, does not drag across the lips and has the ability to hide those dreaded lines that us mature gals seem to get.
Containing Water Lilly extract the lips feel suitable hydrated and nourished upon application and this lasts the duration of wear time. The pigment offers a one swipe – is – enough standard, that means you do not need to overload on product. Longevitiy is wonderful and as long as you blot after applying, it will not stain your wine glass or coffee cup! Love the formula, love the colour! Purchase HERE
My signature lip is red, it has been since I wa 15 and I am sure I will be buried wearing a red lip. However, I appreciate not everyone loves a red lip and I appreciate how hard it is to find the red lip, especially if you are more mature, like me. McGrath Muse is that perfect red lip, I was so nervous when I ordered this online that it might be a touch off but phew!! Winner winner chicken dinner! As a Huge Marilyn Monroe fan, and all Hollywood icons really, I have grown to appreciate the power and sexiness behind a red lip. It just makes me feel more confident, more put together! Mascara and a red lip and I am ready to take on the world.
This Formula is the same as above, it is comfortable, super hydrating and easy to wear without bleeding. McGrath Muse is not Brassy or overtly bold, but it offers a warmth that makes my lips look perfectly put together and classy. It is a jeans and T shirt kind of red as much as it is a dressy, Hollywood Glamour kind of red and that is why I love it. When you first wind it out of the bullet you may be taken aback but put it on and be amazed. It is so flattering on the lips and really suits my medium skin tone as you can see. Again, longevitiy after blotting is superb and I am a total convert. Purchase HERE
