Sponsored Advertorial in conjunction with Boots UK – all thoughts my own!
If you know me, you know that anything scary absolutely freaks me out! However, having children and friends with kids, it is always inevitable that we will be invited to Halloween parties. Knowing me and my love for Glam Make up, I was thrilled when Boots UK got in contact with me to work with them on a Halloween “Stand out from the Crowd with Boots” Campaign, putting my own spin on the finished look!
Boots have been my go to for make up for more years than I care to remember. Going back over 30 years, it was the first shop I made all my make up and fragrance purchases from and now, with the amount of incredible new brands they have in stock, it really has become the must have high street one-stop-shop for everything new and exciting in the beauty world. Not forgetting that it is also the UK’s leading pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer!
Boots kindly gifted me the following items to create my go to “Stand Out from The Crowd” look and I really wanted to do something soft and glam. I really hope you like my Soft Glam Skull Look. If you want to try to create a Skeleton Makeup look or a Zombie Makeup look and put your own spin on it, give it a go and let me know! This post is photo heavy to really help you recreate this look. Have Fun!
Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed & Gorgeous Palette
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk 604
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania
I have broken my look down into an easy to follow step by step guide for you, I have added a few extra touches to make me Stand Out From The Crowd.
Step 1. On clean, dry skin, I went in with a foundation that was a few shades lighter than my complexion. I used Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – available in Boots – in the shade Porcelain. I wanted a Pale face and neck, but nothing completely white as I wanted it to compliment the overall tones I would be using.
Step 2. Then , once I had a flat canvas, I went straight into my Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed & Gorgeous Palette and Chose the shade Top Secret which is a really nice Matte Khaki Green Shade.
I applied that shade around the eye contours, using a really fluffy brush. I took it high up into my temples, added some to the end of my nose, created a deep cheek contour and added some onto my neck. As this is just a base shade i’m not being too precise here and focused on building the colour up slowly.
Step 3. Going back into the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Palette with a denser brush, I picked up the shade Smooth Criminal. This is a warm Red/Brown shade and started to build up those shadows. I went over what i had already laid down, buffing and blending the two shades together to create more definition.
Step 4. Back into the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette, for the final time because now we add the glam! It’s time to add a little something, something to really make this look pop.
Taking the Bright Gold Glitter shade Coin onto my finger, i gently tapped it onto both eyelids, really packing on that colour for some gorgeous Glam!
Step 5. To make the look special, I added these stunning ‘Poppy’ lashes from Doll Lash, they are full and flirty and really add a wow factor. I didn’t cut down or trim my lashes as I wanted full on flutter!! Well, it is Halloween!
Once the lashes are on, you get a really good idea of the framing of the face. This is when I added a little liner to the lash band, and did my brows. I also applied some It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara – available from Boots – to my lower lashes and top lashes once the glue had dried, to fill any gaps.
Step 6. It is now time to frame the face and add the “Bones”. As mine is a “Soft Glam” look, I didn’t want a harsh bone structure. The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in shade 604 Milk is absolutely perfect for this and something I use every year.
Using this pencil, which is super soft and absolutely perfect for the job, I softly traced the look of my eye contour, leaving it open to give a softer, friendlier look and traced it over my nose and cheek contour to create teeth. I also lined my jaw with the pencil and added it to my neck to create a spine.
Step 7. Now it’s time to add the drama and apply the lip colour. For me there couldn’t be a more perfect shade than NYX Soft Matte Lip Crème in the colour Transylvania. This really adds that dramatic glam that is needed, plus it glides on beautifully and feels incredibly comfortable on the lips. The rest is then up to you! You can finish it there……
….but to make this look really Stand Out From The Crowd and to glam it up further, i added some of the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill shade VIP from the Armed and Gorgeous Palette to the centre of my lips, for added glow. I popped on a Rose crown and added a few loose curls to my hair. Now i really am Party Ready!!
I really hope you enjoy the finished look. It still looks like me……. but as a Skeleton and I would like to think I look like a Glam Skeleton – which was my goal – rather than a scary one! These products all worked beautifully to help me create this look.
I would love to know if you will be trying this out. Please leave me a comment below telling me what you would add or change to make your Halloween look Stand Out From The Crowd. If you know anyone that would love to recreate this look please use the share buttons below and share it out!
