As i write this post it is a roasting 30 degrees here in Essex, i have been in my pool and am, as always, smothered in factor 50 SPF. It is now time to talk  SPF 50 – Sun protection 2021 Edit .

My family and I only wear SPF 50 throughout our hot Summers and any Heatwaves that we experience here in the UK and abroad, reapplying regularly.  The rest of the year, Spring and late Autumn, I will usually always be in SPF 30, especially on my face as those rays can penetrate deeply. I have always brought my kids up knowing the importance of using SPF all day, every day re-applying regularly and luckily it is something they do without me telling them ( though I do check). “If you don’t wear SPF we cannot be friends” is a saying of mine. I know only too well the devastating effect the sun and sun damage can have on unprotected skin and I am passionate about SPF. I never wear less than SPF50 in Summer and am always sporting a healthy and protected tan thanks to the joys of tan accelerators and faux tans.

Today i am featuring some new products i have discovered and although i have lots of favourites i still reach for HERE and HERE it is great trying out new and improved formulations. As the weather warms up and more and more of us are spending time on holiday, swimming in the sea and having fun, a Water Resistant SPF is essential. Water resistant up to 80minutes, this is a broad spectrum SPF for face and body. What i will say about this one is that it does rub in fantastically well for a cream SPF and works well on a more hairy person,meaning, it doesn’t  cling to hairy chests, heads or legs. However….it does have a slight synthetic smell to it that my eldest son and i both found over powering. Please, please remember SPF should be applied at least 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapplied often.

Where possible stay out of the sun between 11-4 when the sun is at its hottest.

Reapply after swimming, showering etc and please be sensible.
